Abstract: Workplaces are one of the social spaces in which human beings interact with each other. More often than not, these spaces become the scenes of major or minor acts of betrayal that threaten to violate the ethical rules of work. This paper aims at discussing the impact of betrayal on a number of characters who work in a junkshop. It is divided into three sections and a conclusion. Section one presents a conceptual background to betrayal. While section two deals with the main features of Mamet’s drama, section three is a critical analysis of the theme of betrayal in American Buffalo.
