Abstract: The research aims to show how to use the Benchmarking technique in evaluating the performance of Iraqi universities and try to reach more accurate indicators of the performance of these universities based on scientific and practical justification . The problem lies in the fact that most of the Iraqi university do not rely on the evaluation of their performance in a contemporary scientific method, but rely on traditional methods, which makes their performance level weak and their competitive position is not tight and may be subject to failure or scientific stumbling. In order to identify the results achieved by the Iraqi universities and the objectives achieved, there must be a tool to evaluate their performance, and the contemporary management techniques in evaluating the performance of quality education, which proved successful in the application in developed countries is the Benchmarking technology, which is one of the important tools Which are used for continuous improvement and improvement through ongoing comparisons of services and activities against the best performance levels. In spite of the importance of benchmarking technology in evaluating the performance, this technique did not take its share of the study and application in Iraqi universities, whether governmental or non governmental. The study concluded that the University of Basra topped the ranking with excellence in many scientific activities due to the heritage of this university and the human and natural resources it possessed Anbar University ranked second and excelled in some activities. Duh ok University ranked last and recommended that university researchers benefit from the comparison. So as to diagnose and work on the problems of imbalance and at the same time invest their strengths so as to ensure the maintenance or improvement of the com Petitive position towards the quality of educational services and public and private university performance.
