Abstract

The research aims to analyze the factors affecting the investment climate in Iraq through some economic indicators to reach the validity of the investment environment in Iraq to attract foreign funds through foreign direct investment, especially for the agricultural sector that lacks the elements for its advancement despite the availability of natural and human resources. The research concluded that most of the studied indicators represented by competitive strength, ability to manage the national, political stability index, degree of trade openness, security and corruption index, unemployment rates in the agricultural sector and at the level of the economy as a whole, were not in the interest of the Iraqi investment environment, this makes the entry of foreign money into the Iraqi economy in general and the agricultural sector in particular fraught with risks as well as the risk and uncertainty of the agricultural sector. The research recommended the necessity to diversify the resources of the Iraqi economy and not to depend on the oil sector, as well as achieving acceptable and encouraging rates of political stability, improving the level of security and eliminating rampant corruption by improving systems and laws and creating an appropriate atmosphere for foreign investment in the agricultural sector, taking into account the specificity of the Iraqi market
