Abstract

The communications revolution played a major role in bringing people closer together, but on the other hand, it affected the system of values and cultures, some of which were accompanied by an intolerant rhetoric calling for hatred and violence. Tolerance was therefore an important way to confront this dangerous phenomenon, because it carries the meaning of recognizing the other who is different from us politically, culturally or religiously The importance of tolerance stems from the fact that it is an existential dimension. It is not possible to build a nation of citizenship unless tolerance is the basis for it, and through it, other concepts, such as pluralism and freedom of thought, are human values that cannot be relinquished or abandoned under any endeavor or circumstance.
