Synthesis of 1,6- di-O- esters –D-Mannitol as Detergents and Emulsions and Study of Their Biological Activity

Abstract

This work includes synthesis of new esters for -D- mannitol on the primary hydroxyl group (C1, C6) by the reaction of mannitol with pure fatty acid esters as (Methyl butyrate, Methyl octanoate, Methyl laurate, Methyl palmitate, Methyl stearate) to obtain 1, 6 – di – O – ester – D – mannitol (A-E) or with crude Oil (tri glyceride) as (Palm oil, Olive oil, corn oil, Sun flower oil, Cotton oil, Castor oil, Flax seed oil, Coconut oil) to obtain mixture esters compounds 1, 6 – di – O – ester – D – mannitol (F-M) These compounds prepared by Transesterification method also detected the reaction flow of (T.L.C.) technique. These compounds characterized also by spectrometric (FT-IR), (1 H–NMR). Also in this work includes studying some physical properties for preparing ester compounds as foam test, surface tension to know that is used capability as Detergents and Emulsions. This study shows that the prepared compounds having good detergent and emulsion properties and on the studying biological activity for prepared compound this test proved to possess some of there derivatives biological activity and can be utilized as antibacterial agcuts.
