Title: GROWTH, YIELD AND QUALITY OF SOYBEAN CULTIVARS AS INFLUENCED BY CYCOCEL AND FOLIAR NUTRITION WITH NITROGEN AND BORON

Abstract: A field study was conducted during Summer seasons of 2012 and 2013 .At Al – Naemea Region, Falluja City of Al –Anbar province to studay the effect of cycocel and foliar nutrition of nitrogen and boron on growth , yield and quality of three soybean cultivars.A split – split plot arrangement in randomaized complete block design RCBD with three replicates.Was used the cultivars (Sinaea -2 , Giza 35 and Giza 22 ) were placed in the main plots . While foliar nutrition with nitrogen and boron ( 0B+0N , 10B +250N and 20B+500N ) mg.l-1 placed in sub plots.The sup- sup plots were occupied by three concentrations of cycocel ( 0 ,50 and 100 ) mg .l-1. The result of study showed the following :- The Cultivar Giza 22 gave the highest rate for each of the number of branches 4.89 and 5.64 branche . plant-1 , leaf area 44.20and51.0 dm24 , leaf area index 2.24and2.25 , number of pods .plant-1 119.97 and121.20 pod .plant-1 and seeds yield3.070 and3.161t.ha-1 for two seasons respectively . The concentration (20B+500N)mg.l-1 from foliar nutrition of nitrogen and boron gave the highest rate for each of the number of branches 4.83and5.56 branche . plant-1 , leaf area 44.26 and49.15dm2 ,nitrogen percentage in the leaf 4.60and5.16% ,boron concentration in the leaf 66.60and63.18 mg B.kg-1 , number of days from planting to maturity 114.44 and 116.33day , number of pods .plant-1 119.07 and123.02 pod .plant-1, fertile Percentage ,dry weight of plant92.22and109.93 g , number of seeds .pod-1 , seeds yield3.075 and 3.099 t.ha-1, harvest hndex 46.35and44.03% and protein Percentage in the seeds 36.62and35.55 % .While the concentration (10B+250N)mg.l-1 gave the highest rate for each of the plant height101.89 and122.70cm, 100 seeds weight 17.18 and16.96% and oil percentage in seeds20.56 and19.42% respectively . The concentration 100 mg .l-1 of cycocel recorded the lowest average for each of the plant height93.59 and107.86cm, leaf area 38.89 and43.14dm2 ,leaf area index 2.02and2.00 , dry weight of the plant 80.63and96.19 g and degree of curvature of the plant 1.74and1.73 . It also gave the highest rate for each of the number of branches . plant-1 4.90 and 5.85, nitrogen percentage in the leaf 4.41and 5.27%,boron concentration in the leaf 58.84 and 64.57 mg B.kg-1 , number of pods . plant-1 126.93 and132.47 pod .plant-1, seeds yield 3.454 and3.208t.ha-1,harvest index 46.27and46.56 and protein Percentage in the seeds 37.07 and 36.11 % . While the concentration 50mg .l-1 gave the highest fertile Percentage 92.56 and93.13% and the highest oil Percentage in the seeds 20.07 and 19.50% respectively . The interaction between cultivar Giza 22 and concentration (20B+500N) mg.l-1 from foliar nutrition gave the highest rate for each of the leaf area , boron concentration in the leaf , number of pods.plant-1, seeds yield and harvest index. It also gave the lowest number of days from planting to 50% flowering. The interaction between cultivar Giza 22 and concentration 100 mg .l-1 from cycocel gave the lowest rate of plant height. It also gave the highest rate for each of the number of branches . plant-1 ,number of pods . plant-1 and harvest index . While the cultivar Giza 35 with concentration 100 mg .l-1 from cycocel gave the highest rate of the fertile Percentage , number of seeds.pod-1 and seeds yield3. The interaction between foliar nutrition and cycocel recorded significant superiority when combination (F3C3) in number of branches.plant-1, nitrogen percentage in the leaf , number of pods . plant-1,harvest index and protein Percentage in the seeds . The triple interaction between cultivar Giza 22 with concentration (20B+500N)mg.l-1 of foliar nutrition and concentration 100 mg .l-1 from cycocel (V3F3C3) was significant effect in number of branches.plant-1 , number of pods . plant-1, seeds yield in the first season and harvest index . While the combination(V3F2C2) gave the highest rate of 100 seeds weight and oil Percentage in the seeds.
