Abstract: The present work deals mainly with the synthesise of four new ligands bi dentate ligands derived from 4-amino acetophenone and tryptophan. The two new ligands are synthesized by two steps: Step (1): By the reaction of one mole of ammonium thiocyanat with one mole of (chloroacetylchloride), (P-nitrobenzoyl chloride) under reflux for 3hrs in acetone; it gives product. Step (2): By the reaction of the product with one mole of 4-amino acetophenone under reflux for 6hrs in acetone, gives the ligands L1 and L2 which are L1 (ACC) =[N-(4-acetylphenyl) carbamothioyl)-2-chloroacetamide] and L2 (ACN) =[N-((4-acetylphenyl) carbamothioyl)-4-nitrobenzamide]. Also two new ligands are synthesized by two steps: Step (1): By the reaction of one mole of ammonium thiocyanat with one mole of (4-methoxy benzoyl chloride) and (chloro acetyl chloride) under reflux for 3hrs in acetone it gives product. Step (2): By the reaction of the product with one mole of tryptophan under reflux for 6hrs in acetone, gives the ligands L3,L4 which are L3(MTP)=[3-(1H-indol-3-yl)-2-(3-(4-methoxybenzoyl)thiouereido) propanoic acid] and L4(CTP)= [2-(3-(2-chloroacetyl)thioureido)-3-(1H-indol-3-yl)propanoic acid]. Molecular formulas of prepared ligands are L1(ACC)= C11H11O2N2SCl and L2(ACN)= C16H13N3O4S and L3(MTP)= C20H19N3O4S and L4(CTP)= C14H14N3O3SCl. Some of metal complexes were synthesized with prepared and the basis of their reactions with some metal ions (V+4, M+2= Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Hg) to give complexes with molecular formulas [M(ACC)2Cl2], [M(ACN)2Cl2], [M(MTP)2] and [M(CTP)2] when (M+2= Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Hg). [VO(ACC)2]SO4, [VO(ACN)2]SO4, [VO(MTP)2] and [VO(CTP)2]. The ligands and their metal complexes were characterized by spectroscopic techniques such as FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV-Vis spectra, molar conductivity, magnetic moment and microanalysis techniques(C.H.N.S), flame atomic absorption, melting point, the above data showed the purity of ligands and their metal complexes and were in a good agreement with the theartical values. From above characterizations and results, one can conclude that complexes with ligand(ACC) and (ACN) when (M+2 = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Hg) have an octahedral geometry shape and the square pyramid shape for complexes for oxo-vandium(IV); While for complexes with ligand (MTP) and (CTP) have tetrahedral shape where the copper(II) complex has taken the square planer geometry shape.
