Abstract: | This study aimed find hybrids that are bi-purpose and superior under different levels of salicylic acid using number of pure inbred lines, and to find best hybrid vigor and combining ability. Field experiment was conducted to compare number from maize lines and their hybrids for two seasons of 2021 (autumn and spring) in Al- Hamdhiya research station/ East Rammadi of Anbar governorate. Five inbred lines of maize (27-Ibn, 104BK116, Zm6, ABS6, BK) subjected to half diallel program and evaluated with their crosses according to Griffing method II . Compression study was conducted using RCBD experimental design applied in split plots in three replicates, salicylic acid levels occupied main plots while subplots were occupied by genotypes totally 15 genotype (5 inbred lines+10 hybrids) . Results presented inccerred study significant differences among lines and their diallel crosses for most studied traits in both seasons, crosses 6BK104xZm, 6ABS6xABS and 116Lnb-27xBK were superior as they gave highest value of grain yield in spring season reached 222.1, 212.5 and 209 (g) consequently, on the other hand crosses of 104Lnb-27xBK and 6BK104xZm were superior in autumn season and gave 247.01 and 230.46 (g) consequently. Hybrids effect was clear in increasing most traits specially grain yield and that due to their superiority in traits like grains number per row, grain weight. Salicylic concentration of 400 mg L1-showed highest yield for both seasons (177.33 and 179.10 g) without significant difference compared to concentration of 200 mg l1-. Hybrids 116Zm6 x Bk, 116Lnb-27 x BK and 6BK104 x Zm were uniquely showed highest number of leaves that are stayed green during maturity stage. B Interactions among treatments were significant for all studied traits, and obtained results referred to significant of the general and specific combining ability of most traits, line 67m gave highest significant general effect of almost all studied traits. Value of (σ^2 gca)/(σ^2 sca) was less that one, average degree of dominance (ā) of hybrids demonstrated values bigger than one for all studied traits in both seasons, while broad sense heritability was high for most traits and moderate in some traits of diallel crosses. It can be concluded from the obtained results that crosses of 116BK104 x BK, 104Inb-27 x BK and 6BK104 x ABS in spring season and crosses 104BK116 x BK, 6BK104 x ABS and 104Inb-27 x BK in autumn season were superior in most studied traits. In general, most hybrids in autumn season were superior showing green leaves for longest period of time which means having active leaves during maturity stage and this support the goal of this study by producing a bi-purpose hybrid. |
