dc.description.abstractA field experiment was carried out in Al-Hamdiah Research Station of Agriculture college – University of Anbar in Al-Ramadi district - Anbar governorate, that located on latitude of 33° N and longitude of 43° E during the winter season 2018-2019. The objective of study was to study effect of four levels of nitrogen fertilization (0, 50, 100 and 150) kg h-1 as urea (46% N) and four levels of phosphorus (0, 40 ,80 and 120) kg h-1 as (45% P2O5) on growth and yield of flax. Factorial design was used according to RCBD design with three replications. The results showed a significant statistical differences for most studied traits, the Nitrogen level 150 kg h-1 gave highest mean of plant height, steam diameter, number of leaves per plant, main and fruit branches per plant, Nitrogen percentage in the leaves, Chlorophyll index, number of capsules per plant, number of seed per capsules, seed yield, biological yield, harvest index, oil percentage in the seeds and oil yield. (116.45 cm, 2.4542 mm, 213.33 leaf, 6.53 branch plant-1, 12.62 branch plant-1, 0.7325%, 8.205 mg g-1 fresh weight, 33.73 capsules plant-1, 8.648 seed capsules-1, 1.7510 ton ha-1, 6.018 ton ha-1 , 28.99%, 36.18% and 0.6320 ton ha-1) respectively. While the Nitrogen level 0 kg h-1 gave highest mean of 1000-seeds weight 7.103 g. The phosphorus level 120 kg ha-1 gave highest mean of plant height, steam diameter, number of leaves per plant, main and fruit branches per plant, Nitrogen and phosphorus percentage in the leaves, Chlorophyll index, number of capsules per plant, number of seed per capsules, seed yield, biological yield, harvest index, oil percentage in the seeds and oil yield (114.75 cm, 2.6042 mm, 200.46 leaf, 6.35 branch plant-1, 12.34 branch plant-1, 0.6400%, 0.1792%, 7.626 mg g-1 fresh weight, 32.99 capsules plant-1, 8.493 seed capsules-1, 1.6770 ton ha-1, 5.96 ton ha-1 , 28.10%, 34.97% and 0.5877 ton ha-1). While the phosphorus level 0 kg h-1 gave highest mean of 1000-seeds weight 6.482 g. The interaction treatments between Nitrogen and phosphorus varied in most studied traits, the treatment (150 kg N ha-1 × 120 kg P ha-1) highest mean of plant height, steam diameter, number of leaves per plant, Chlorophyll index, number of seed per capsules, 1000-seeds weight, seed yield, biological yield, harvest index and oil yielden_US
