dc.description.abstract | Biopolymers have good properties make it distinguished on other polymers, these properties are renewable, sustainable, biodegradable, non-toxic, non-immunogenic, non-carcinogenic and non-thrombogenic. Chitosan biopolymer has unique properties such as biocompatibility, non-toxicity, low allergenicity and biodegradability, allow it to be used in wide range of application. Other biological properties including antitumor, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. In this work, chitosan schiff base have been prepared from the reaction of chitosan with para fluoro, hydroxy, nitro benzaldehyde. Chitosan schiff base / PVA / PVP polymer blend have been prepared by solution casting method with different ratios. Gold and silver nanoparticles were prepared using onion peels extract as a reducing agent, which considered as a rich source of phytochemicals that led to the reduction of Au+3 and Ag+1 to Au° and Ag° atoms by providing electrons for these ions. Nanoparticles were characterized using the UV-Visible spectroscopy (Uv), flam atomic absorption spectroscopy (F.A.A.S), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD). Absorption spectrum showed a peak at 543 nm of AuNPs, 425 nm of AgNPs, X-ray diffraction examination also showed the formation of gold and silver nanoparticles by comparing them with the reference card (JCPDS 04-0784),(JCPDS 04-0783) respectively. The images of (FE-SEM) showed diameter nanoparticles ranging between (20 - 70) nm of AuNPs, (15 - 50) nm of AgNPs. Nanocomposites have been prepared by mixing (Cs, PVA, PVP) of different ratios with nano gold and nano silver with different concentrations (100, 200) ppm. The prepared chitosan schiff base (CS), (CS / PVA / PVP) polymer blend and (CS / PVA / PVP) Au and Ag nanocomposite were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), (FE-SEM) and thermal analysis thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). II The FTIR spectroscopy was used to characterise chitosan schiff base, which confirm the formation of (C=N) imine group. The morphology and particle size of chitosan, chitosan schiff base, polymer blend and Au, Ag nanocomposite were studied by (FE-SEM). Thermal analysis (TGA, DSC) investigated the thermal stability of the prepared chitosan schiff base, polymer blend and Au, Ag nanocomposites which shows a good thermal stability. The polymer blend and Au, Ag nano composites were examined on cancer cell line breast cancer (AMJ-13) with concentrations of (6.25, 12.5, 25, 50, 100) µm, the inhibition rate of growth in cells was measured for 72 hours. The inhibition rate of blend and nanocomposites ranging between (1.33 - 86.33) for all compounds. IC 50 of blend and nanocomposites ranging between (19.33 - 183.56) µg / mL for all compounds. | en_US |
