Abstract: | The study addresses the understanding of the nature of Chinese foreign policy towards the Gulf of Guinea region after 2013, since Xi Jinping took power in China, which came with different and new methods that the previous leaderships were not accustomed to. The Chinese government, in light of its foreign policy towards the Gulf of Guinea region, is trying to exploit Opportunities to achieve its future goals in the region, by following realistic methods that lead to increased acceptance of China in the region. Thus, our study addressed the geographical and economic importance of the Gulf of Guinea region and the political and security conditions the region is witnessing, as well as the approach taken by the Chinese government towards the countries of the region with the aim of Carve a place for it in the region, and this approach has been represented in various and multiple methods based on economic cooperation and partnership, investment in the region, provision of aid, and trade exchanges between China and the countries of the region, which are tools that pave the way for China to increase its presence, in order to achieve the goals of the Chinese approach towards the region. The Gulf of Guinea, in addition to the focus on the Chinese government’s attempt to link methods of partnership and cooperation based on shared profit with the tools of Chinese foreign policy and the reasons for employing investments and aid to achieve the goals of Chinese foreign policy in the Gulf of Guinea region. The study also touched on understanding the nature of the positions of Western countries towards Chinese growth in the region, in addition to highlighting the most important variables that affected Chinese foreign policy in the Gulf of Guinea region. The researcher also worked on trying to explain the future of Chinese policy in the region in light of the challenges facing Chinese policy there. The study concluded by presenting evidence that shows the Chinese government’s employment For investments, aid, and trade exchanges, in its foreign policy towards the Gulf of Guinea region, in order to achieve gains represented by international standing and ensure the security of external energy supplies. |
